Cognac is Worth Celebrating!!!

National Cognac Day

A Cognac is a form of distilled brandy alcohol carrying a bit of nobility, culture, elegance, and a social grandeur that other alcohols fail to have. Cognac reminds you of the rich red of mahogany in the hands of high-class gentlemen.

This special type of alcohol is tied to a specific place on the map and must be made from a select list of grapes in a particular style. The Cognac was named after a town in France called “Cognac“. It is produced in a wine-growing region surrounding the town which takes its name.

To bear the name Cognac you will have to maintain certain guidelines during the production. The first and main requirement is that you will have to use a particular variety of grapes called Ugni Blanc. Also, the brandy must be aged at least 2 years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Troncais and also distilled twice in copper pot stills. But most cognacs are aged much more than the basic requirement.

Cognac Day is observed from coast to coast every year globally. June 14th invites us to Explore the varieties of Cognac on National Cognac Day, as there are many grades of cognac available (See Here).
